Gypsum
Gypsum
Gypsum is used to apply calcium to the soil, without affecting the soil pH. It's also a good product to apply along the street median, if the winter snows are piled up in this area. The rock salt used by street crews contains sodium, and too much sodium can cause plant stress. Gypsum applied in these "hot spots" in the fall and spring, can help remove the sodium.

Despite what you read in some garden columns, gypsum DOES NOT help loosen our tight clay soils. That's a bunch of bunk written by folks without a substandard education.
